October was deemed the new season for weddings,
Which made it easy to wear my dresses with leggings.
The first of three was the most entertaining of my life,
I'm really shocked someone didn't end up pulling a knife.
The first fist fight broke out at 6:11 p.m.
7 cop cars arrived and nobody could flee 'em.
It all worked out and most guests drank away the drama,
Chelcy and Reg owning the dance floor, followed closely by Kate and Frahm-a.
All that dancing must have made them quite a bit tired,
Fore if Reg and Chee's job was to stay awake, they'd surely be fired.
I spent the next weekend in Dubuque attending the last rugby game of the year,
Afterwards the social led to way too many beers.
Showing up on Thursday in the afternoon around fourish,
Was my cousin, Marr-Dawg, ready to celebrate the great Morris.
I was so happy to have my little cousin around that she couldn't get away from my hugs,
We were definitely the only Cards fans represented at BDUBs.
The next day we attended her first hockey game and felt a little out of place,
Til we realized all we had to do was yell "Kill Him" in someone's face.
What was supposed to be a friendly game of flip cup at Lindsay's that night,
Turned into a war that only the late Morris could ever fight.
We flipped with all we had including Morris' will on our side,
Those Deutmeyer's went down like they were on a twisty slide.
Saturday was time to celebrate the marriage of Don and Mandy,
Between the wedding and reception, Marlana came up with a plan that was so grandy.
Morris should come along for the ride in a van with some strangers,
We knew with him on our side, we'd be safe from any dangers.
Beverages and dancing mixed with a break for a photobooth,
Marr singing karaoke at the bars was worse than an achy tooth.
But we had some fun and partied even later with Stefano and Benda,
Clint was his rowdy self, but once on the couch began to surrenda.
It was one of those weekends I'll hold close for the rest of my days,
It's amazing how much I can love my little lady in so many big ways.
Don't think that it was over though, there was one more big event I had to see,
Rob drove me to see my Cardinals put an end to Milwaukee.
It was a weird and incredible game, and a bit of a road trip,
But nothing can replace seeing the redbirds clinching to go to the ship.
The next week showed that maybe I wasn't as lucky as I thought,
sprained my ankle so bad, appears walking I was never really taught.
I headed home on crutches but with high hopes for what was to come,
A full weekend of parties and friends all back where I came from.
Surprises were had for Jess and Luke at Twin Oaks,
Everyone came out to celebrate their engagement, including both their sets of folks.
With Brooke as my date and Zach as our ride,
we showed up to the Schnable reception ready for the electric slide.
Aubrey stopped by just in time for some cloudy pics,
My mom joined in after promising her treats and tricks.
It was by far the funnest reception, really, of them all,
Counting down the Cardinals score, even weddings love baseball.
It would be five days later when I was at my apartment pacing the floor,
In the ninth inning of Game Six, I never dreamed we'd play two more.
I witnessed the greatest World Series game that ever happened on a field,
The neighbors had to think I was crazy from my yelling and how I squealed.
The next night I had some guests over to watch the last game of the series,
I knew the Cards had it won, even after listening to all of Rob's Cubs theories.
My old roommie showed up-- Jenna finally made a trip to my town,
The next day we would go hiking and then, in costume, march around.
As a french maid and lion, we skipped from place to place,
We got a little disturbed when we realized our scarecrow's pants had some missing space.
October was another really great time to be alive,
But I was ready for hanging with my family and the holidays to arrive.
For the first time in two years, I headed back to my college town of Cape,
Alli came up from Memphis, someone really should have got us on tape.
Saw so many familiar faces and played all over the ole stomping ground,
The next day we weren't really sure in what house we could be found.
Heads down at work until Thanksgiving break,
Not only did I win a bonus and award, but also a free meal with steak.
December proved to be another party session to the extreme,
Went on a party bus and bar crawl with the rugby team.
Garden club had a Christmas party with a theme of triple X,
I found it amusing as I didn't seem to have any luck with the opposite sex.
One last trip home to ride out the end of the year like a champ,
The first three days were spent at home at the Mapavi Camp.
I loved hanging out with just my mom and dad watching Law and Order,
I couldn't have imagined I'd want to cut my time with them to be any shorter.
But that was the case after what I consider the Miracle of the season,
I was drawn to a late night Christmas party for what appears to be a reason.
I saw some old friends that are still as great as they ever were,
But I locked eyes with the one that got away and the rest is just a blur.
Then came 8 days in Heaven or really what a dream feels like,
I can't believe all I ever wanted can now be mine, and that's Spike.
I've been saying for months that 2011 was my best,
I had no idea my heart would start to feel it was burstin' out my chest.
Now when I look to the future, I'll close my eyes and see,
I've got everything I need-- I'm the definition of happy.
ily! :)
